{{Project}} Upcycling Furniture :: "Pankaja" Side Tables

Monday, October 06, 2014

A pair of old, worn out side table came into my possession, some time back.  They were sort of thrown out of their original abode. When I saw them, I saw opportunity. I saw a possibility of life in these old souls. I knew they had chanced upon me for a reason. I was going to be the one to give them a new lease of life. And not just any ordinary life!! :)

And so the work began.

I started by repairing the poor old couple. Filled up the crack, the smoothed out the wrinkles and bandaged the scars. It took about two to three days for the recovery to start showing.

The surface once even, was given some tender loving care with a coat or two of a protective base coat. It took another two days for the base coat to dry up and these babies were ready for my magic touch :).

Then came the colors...my favorite part of it all!!

I added some bright pinks, some deep blues and a hint of a quirky yellow to the bodies. They had begun to show a bright and almost distinct temperament once the make up was in place.

The design on the paper brought along an amazing character to their faces. I could not help but smile every time I looked at them while they waited for the top surface to dry off in my living/work area.

I added a 5-6 coats of varnish to protect their delicate new persona and add that sparkle to their personalities. They were ready to be presented to the world.

Meet my newest creations. Here they are, in all their splendour...

These #sidetables are perfect "examples" of what #ArtDesign#decoupage and some indigenous #upcycling ideas can do for your old #furniture...
