Copper

This is the story of Coppre.
Launched in March 2012.
The story of an ancient metal that shines like gold but also ages to a dull green.
The story of a hand-beaten metal craft, fine-honed to perfection.
The story of the hands of the maker, striking and beating the copper sheets into shape, passing on the legacy from one generation to another.
And their endeavor to keep this story alive.

Coppre reflects the legacy of the metal craftspeople, the makers who beat malleable metal into beautiful artefacts in the narrow and dusty alleys of old cities in India… where the timeless sound of the metal hammers clang on copper.

"We work with the Craftspeople, by contemporizing their products for today’s lifestyle, thereby making the old relevant in the new. We bring dignity and efficiency to this ancient craft by linking talented designers to craftspeople and presenting their craft to the world. We are supported by INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) and Forbes Marshall in this social enterprise initiative."
